This French Provincial dresser had definitely seen better days—it was dark, worn, and in need of a total refresh. I wanted to bring out its elegant lines and timeless charm while giving it a softer, more “Frenchie” feel. I started by prepping the piece with a deep clean, sanding, and repairing the drawer guides so everything would function smoothly again. Once prepped, it was off to the spray tent for primer, paint, and topcoat. Choosing the right color was a journey in itself: I originally thought the dresser needed a custom shade, so I mixed up a new color—but I quickly regretted that decision and went back to the soft, beautiful color I had chosen in the first place. It turned out to be the perfect choice to highlight the details and give this dresser the fresh French-inspired look I had envisioned. For the finishing touches, I refreshed the original hardware using my trusty hardware soup method, then lined the drawers with a gorgeous botanical print that added elegance inside as well as out. Together, these small details really completed the transformation. Now, this once-dark French Provincial dresser is light, refined, and beautifully “Frenchie.” It’s the perfect example of how paint, patience, and a little trial and error can bring vintage furniture back to life.
