This adorable three-drawer Ethan Allen dresser came from Facebook Marketplace and was in rough shape when I brought it home. The top was completely destroyed — the finish was worn, faded, and beyond saving — but the bones were solid and the design had timeless charm. That’s always a sign of good quality furniture, especially when it’s Ethan Allen. I started by stripping it all the way down to bare wood to remove years of old finish and damage. Then came the fun part — finding the perfect stain color. It took a few tries (okay, four!) before I finally landed on the shade I loved. Once the stain was just right, I applied multiple layers of topcoat for durability and a soft, professional finish. The final touch was updating the hardware by refreshing some vintage hardware that I had in my inventory — giving it a refreshed look while keeping its original charm. Now this little dresser looks better than ever. What was once worn and forgotten is now beautifully restored and ready for a whole new life. This project is a great reminder that sometimes refinishing isn’t quick — it’s a process of trial, creativity, and patience. But when it’s done right, the results speak for themselves.
