Apparently I wasn’t the first buyer in line for these nightstands… but the seller wanted them to become “internet famous. These solid wood three-drawer nightstands immediately caught my attention with their dovetail joinery, classic bun feet, and overall timeless design. I honestly assumed I had no chance of getting them because there was already so much interest on Facebook Marketplace. Then the seller reached out and said they had realized the pieces were headed to Olive Street Designs, and they wanted me to have them so they could become “internet famous.” Challenge accepted. After removing the hardware, I followed my normal workflow with a full cleaning, sanding, and minor touchups for the few dents and dings they had collected over the years. Thankfully, these were in really solid condition structurally, which made them the perfect candidates for a clean, elegant transformation instead of a heavy reconstruction project. Once prep was complete, they went straight into the tent for primer, a beautiful neutral taupe finish, and a durable clear coat for protection. The original hardware used a 2.5-inch spread, and instead of filling and redrilling new holes, I decided to simplify the makeover by using adjustable straight pulls. It helped modernize the look while keeping the process cleaner and more efficient. Sometimes the smartest refinishing decisions are the ones that create the biggest visual impact with the least unnecessary complication. These nightstands turned out so elegant. The soft neutral taupe works beautifully with almost any style of décor, and the updated hardware gave them just the right amount of modern contrast without overpowering the design of the pieces themselves. And honestly… for a pair of nightstands destined for “Furniture Fame,” I’d say they understood the assignment.
