Many people cannot look past all the STUFF in a listing photo. But I can see right past it to what is hiding underneath. I am in the middle of creating a home office space and with my desk finished, it was time to find a hutch. Only problem with this one is that it was in an apartment, with a walkway FAR AWAY from the parking lot. It was a challenge just to move it. But we were able to maneuver it carefully down the long, uneven path and into the truck, one piece at a time. Once I got it home, I found out it is a Henkel Harris piece. I was not familiar with this maker until now and now I will be searching to find more! What a well-made, quality piece. I needed to make this work in my home and coordinate with the desk, so I knew I was painting it to match. I modified the finials on each end of the hutch, stripped, washed and gel stained the top, then prepped the rest for paint. I painted this in a custom color using leftover exterior paint from my house. Yes, exterior paint. Oops. With proper prep, primer and topcoat, it should work out just fine! I installed new hardware, moved it into the house, stood back to admire it and now I absolutely love it. This desk is just the beginning of the office makeover.
