I got this dresser for free because it was headed to the landfill that day if nobody picked it up. It was short, boxy, beat up, and absolutely covered in damage. Someone had carved “Mia” into the drawer fronts, along with flowers and a butterfly. There were scratches everywhere, missing corners, and more dents and dings than I could count. I started by adding support underneath so I could give it new legs and get it up off the floor. That alone helped the proportions a ton. Then it was just a matter of working through the damage. Filling the carvings, rebuilding the corners, sanding everything smooth, and getting it ready for paint. I went bold with a deep teal, which was a big change from where this piece started. I also got to use my new LaserPecker LX2 on this makeover. I made wood Olive Street Designs logos, but I also created custom drawer embellishments and stained them to match the new legs. That ended up being one of my favorite details on the whole piece. I finished with adding vintage knobs for a special touch to tie it all together. This video is the complete makeover, and I’m taking you through the entire process from the structural changes underneath all the way through the final details.
