This dresser was a behemoth — fifteen drawers, solid construction, and in overall good condition — but anyone who refinishes furniture knows that means doing everything fifteen times over. Prep alone on a piece this size is no small task. I started by fully disassembling the dresser and giving it a thorough cleaning. From there, I filled the existing hardware holes, addressed dents and dings, and sanded every surface to create a smooth, consistent foundation. To modernize the overall look, I used my jigsaw to reshape the base, giving the dresser a cleaner, updated silhouette. Once the structural work was complete, I drilled new hardware holes and filled the wood grain to achieve a more refined finish. After all the prep work, the dresser went through primer, paint, and multiple coats of topcoat to ensure durability and a smooth, professional result. The final step was installing all-new champagne bronze hardware, which completely elevated the design and tied everything together. The contrast between the rich finish and the warm metallic hardware gives this dresser a timeless, high-end look. This project is a perfect example of how even furniture in good condition can require a significant amount of work — especially at this scale — but with the right process, vision, and attention to detail, the transformation is absolutely worth it.
