Currently Playing: You Don't Need to Be a Lean Expert to Spot This Problem 🥴

#LeanManufacturing #ContinuousImprovement #kaizen Hey folks, you don't need much Lean experience to spot the problem here. On our powder-coat line, operators work from a raised platform so they can comfortably access parts moving through the line. The problem was that we'd never installed a barrier along the back. A stool or operator could potentially move too close to the edge. Thankfully nobody was ever injured, but that's not a reason to leave an obvious risk in place. Our team added a proper safety rail along the back of the platform. While we were making the improvement, we also added dedicated storage for water bottles and some of the consumables used at the station, keeping those items off the working platform. Nothing particularly clever here. It's simply safer, cleaner and a much better standard than what we'd accepted before. 👉 Subscribe for more practical lean improvements and real-world manufacturing ideas.
