#leanmanufacturing #kaizen #continuousimprovement Hey folks, here's how eliminating a little walking actually helped us improve our quality checks. At the start of production, operators need to verify that parts coming from our chamfer machines meet the correct tolerances. Previously, they would take a sample and walk over to a separate QC station to check it in a jig. Multiply that by several machines and dozens of checks every day, and there's a lot of unnecessary motion. So we 3D printed a dedicated checking jig for each chamfer machine and mounted it directly where the parts come out. Now operators can verify a part immediately without leaving the machine. Best of all, we can check more easily, produce in smaller batch sizes, and increase the number of changeovers. Sometimes improving quality isn't about adding more inspection. It's about removing the barriers to doing it. 👉 Subscribe for more practical lean improvements and real-world manufacturing ideas. Learn more about how we apply lean thinking at dgshsourcing.com.
