Hey folks, here's how one of our operators eliminated a frustration he was dealing with every day. In our metal fabrication area, we collect metal chips and offcuts in a large scrap trolley. The rear door was secured with a locking pin, but when the trolley became full, the weight of the scrap pushed against the door and made the pin extremely difficult to remove. Sometimes we even had to hammer it out. Our operator decided there had to be a better way. He designed and welded a simple lever latch with a large handle that gives him plenty of leverage. Now the door opens easily, the scrap empties out, and the daily struggle is gone. This is what kaizen should look like.
