Hey folks, here's how a wireless mouse helped us make standard work easier to follow. At our final packaging station, operators use an overhead monitor to reference the correct SOP for each product. The computer controls were mounted on a nearby pillar, so every model change required the operator to leave the station just to change what's displayed. It wasn't difficult, but it created unnecessary friction, particularly during short production runs. We added a wireless mouse directly at the workstation. Now switching to the correct SOP takes only a few seconds, making it easier to keep the appropriate work instructions visible as production changes. There's a bigger lesson here. If following your standard is inconvenient, don't just ask people to try harder. Remove the friction and make the right way the easiest way. 👉 Subscribe for more practical lean improvements and real-world manufacturing ideas.
