#leanmanufacturing #kaizen #continuousimprovement Hey folks, here's how an operator complaint led to a much simpler way of checking our sewing machines. At the start of production, we need to confirm that our stitch length meets our standard of five stitches within 25 millimetres. We had always used a normal clear ruler, but lining it up and accurately counting the stitches was surprisingly difficult. One of our operators finally challenged the process, so we found a simple stitch gauge that's exactly 25 millimetres wide. Now we can place it directly over the stitching and count the stitches in seconds. It's faster, easier to see, and reduces the opportunity for measurement errors. Sometimes continuous improvement isn't about inventing something new.
