#LeanManufacturing #ContinuousImprovement #Kaizen Hey folks, here's an incredibly simple improvement from our powder-coat line that eliminated almost all the unnecessary rework on one of our products. We manufacture steel tubes for our gobaPlay climbing domes, and we suspend them from hooks as they move through our powder-coating process. The problem was that the angled ends of the tubes lined up almost perfectly with the angled hanging hooks. This created a larger contact area where the powder coating needed to be touched up after the parts were removed. One of our operators recognized the problem and came up with a remarkably simple solution. Turn the tubes around 180 degrees. That small change reduced the contact area and eliminated approximately 95% of the touch-up and rework. No new equipment. No additional investment.
