Historically, whenever our drills, saws, or other tools came in their own plastic cases, we kept them there. It seemed like the proper way to protect and organize them. Over time, though, we realized those cases were adding another step every time someone needed a tool. So, after a little debate, we removed the cases and created dedicated locations for everything using Kaizen foam. Now operators can immediately see what they need, grab it and get to work. Just as importantly, we can see at a glance when something hasn't been returned. Good 3S isn't about keeping things neat for the sake of appearance.
