Seasons changing, and Alaska is waking up. The sap is still flowing & the barrel stove is going all day to cook it down to sweet birch syrup for the pantry stores, our second batch. Dennis headed out to do a little more trapping before beaver season wraps. I worked with Ike, our youngest pack horse (a very good boy). Birch syrup glazed moose + caramelized onion sourdough grilled cheeses for dinner over the fire. A new foraging series coming to the channel, too- for all you folks who love wild gathering food and medicine like we do. A busy, happy spring day on the homestead!
