Thistle was next up to kid! Labor started just after midnight, and she needed a little extra help. She ended up with a malpresentation, and when the kid got stuck with one leg back, I had to step in and gently reposition her. The next push finished the job! We were hoping for another week in between kidding to make room in the kidding box, but there was no waiting. We made some more room on the porch for the new mama and baby, and worked on the big goat barn more. Making it bigger is a must, and come spring we will fence off a large pasture for both the goats and horses to roam. Hay still needed to be stacked, and we squeezed in a quick ride on the horses before capping the day with some delicious Chipotle Moose Tacos. 🌮 Started at midnight, and didn’t finish till 10pm- winter days on the homestead are busy too!
