A unique set of side tables getting a modern makeover. I saw these on Facebook Marketplace for $20 dollars. They are dated and odd with their wash table styling, but I saw potential! The first chore was to remove the side rails, which are meant to look like towel racks. They were stubborn. I ended up causing some damage removing them, but nothing that wasn’t repairable. Then I removed the wood details on the front of each drawer. Once all of those dated details were removed, I could see the vision coming into view. I primed and painted, then ran out of good weather. It got too cold and dark now that we are in winter to continue so I tucked everything away and would start again the next day. The next day I noticed big blotchy spots coming through, which is bleed through. So, I spraying an oil based primer to seal everything in again and applied two more coats of paint followed by several coats of tinted topcoat. New hardware knobs were installed as well as coordinating drawer liners. Now these beauties are ready for a modern home. I think they would be amazing in a guest room with their simplistic, yet elegant design. The paint color is a new one for me, but this earthy brown/gray is becoming popular.
