Ever notice your hands shaking when you're rushing to get ready? Or feel that jittery, wired-but-tired sensation when you're trying to manage too many things at once? That's shaky overwhelm—your nervous system in sympathetic activation. In this episode, I share what happened when I noticed my hand shaking while doing my mascara before my daughter's birthday party, and teach you the exact real-time safety affirmations I used to calm my nervous system—while still getting everything done. WHAT YOU'LL LEARN: ✓ What "shaky overwhelm" actually is (and why it happens) ✓ Why your nervous system can't tell the difference between running late and being chased by a bear ✓ How to regulate your nervous system in real time without stopping what you're doing ✓ Safety affirmations you can use right in the middle of chaos ✓ Physical grounding techniques you can do while working, cooking, or getting ready THE REAL-TIME REGULATION PRACTICE: You don't have to wait for a calm moment to care for your nervous system. Here's what you can do right in the middle of the chaos: Notice and name it - "My nervous system is activated right now" Speak truth - "You are safe. Being late is not life-threatening. This feels urgent, but it's not dangerous." Add grounding - Take off your shoes to feel the floor, place hand on heart, press back into chair Slow your exhale - Breathe in for 4, out for 6 (this activates your vagal brake) Acknowledge yourself - "I'm managing this even though it feels like a lot" This practice works because you're giving your nervous system accurate information about safety while you're still moving through your tasks. You're not waiting until later—you're regulating as you go.
