Token Ring was once a serious contender in enterprise networking, especially in IBM-centered environments. In this second video on the topic I bring part of that world back online, starting with an IBM Turbo 16/4 ISA Token Ring card in a 486, which just locked up the entire system. We'll visit how Windows NT behaves with both Ethernet and Token Ring installed, some 3D printing detour with a missing rack-mount clip, and a Windows 95 TravelMate using a Token Ring PC Card to reach the 1990s ProtoWeb. It is a hands-on look at a network technology that disappeared from modern systems, but still has plenty of fascinating details left to explore.
