NeXTSTEP - the operating system that shaped everything we know as macOS today. In this episode I explore NeXTSTEP 3.3 on a NeXTstation Color: the system look and feel, core applications, Display PostScript, BSD roots, patching for Y2K, and the many similarities that still echo through macOS. We dive into package formats, system quirks, installing additional UNIX tools, and even running classic NeXTSTEP games and demos. And yes, Doom was developed on NeXTSTEP — plus we take a look at early web browsers like OmniWeb, NetSurfer, SpiderWoman, and of course WorldWideWeb/Nexus from CERN.
