Running Windows on a Solaris workstation — without a single piece of PC hardware? In this episode, I take a look at *SoftWindows 2.0* by Insignia Solutions — a software-based PC emulator that brought DOS and Windows to SPARC systems, long before VMware was a thing. After exploring WABI and SunPCi in earlier episodes, this time I try to get SoftWindows running on a Sun Fire V120, accessed entirely via a Sun Ray terminal. I dive into display quirks, FLEXlm licensing, and even end up rediscovering my own blog from 16 years ago. Monochrome Windows? Sure.
