Willy Messerschmitt was tried as a fellow traveller at Nuremberg and imprisoned. When he emerged from his exile he initially was unable to design new aircraft due to Germany being banned from doing so. Eventually he found employment in Franco's Spain, initially as a consultant on their license-built BF-109s and then, more interestingly, as the designer of Spain's first jet aircraft: the Hispano HA-200 Saeta. This is its story.
