This video tackles a fascinating, but I think underappreciated topic: how and why the French lost the air battle over their country in May and June 1940. It's a long one, but I think an interesting one! Main Sources (...there were many sources!) "The Rise And Fall Of The French Air Force" by Greg Baughn is a great single volume on the topic, although there are some bits (performance of the Morane 406) that could have been better researched. Still an essential read for the data tables alone "The Forgotten Air Force: French Air Doctrine in the 1930s" by Anthony Cain is quite academic but stronger on the doctrinal aspects of the conflict than Baughn "The Paths of Heaven. The Evolution of Airpower Theory" editted by Colonel Phillip Meilinger is essential for understanding the strategic doctrines pursued by European nations in the interwar period "Why Air Forces Fail" by Higham & Harris has a useful essay on the French situation amongst other things
