What begins as a simple tale of revenge and a desire to reunite with family devolves into ancient prophecies and mountains of dead bodies in the most recent works by Saverio Tenuta, an Italian comic artist who primarily focuses on stories set in a fantastic version of Japan. The art is a lot more refined than what I remember from the author. I'd read Tenuta's first major work that reached the US, the Legend of the Scarlet Blades, and while I enjoyed it, something about the art didn't click with me. Whatever issues I may have had back then are no longer the case. This book is absolutely gorgeous!
