Obscurities in Literature!

I grew up around Osprey books. My dad and his brother have collected, painted, and tinkered with toy soldiers of the 19th century armies for as long as I can remember. Osprey books were invaluable aids in their quest to have accurate color schemes on their units (and have some relevant reading material when they weren't painting). I guess I've come full circle in my own way now. These are some of my favorite books for color choices when it comes to painting the myriad of steampunk models that forever invade my hobbying. While not the most in- depth field guides of speculative turn of the century fiction, there's a whole lot to love. Full page illustrations of each unit- some wholeheartedly waving the steampunk flag, some much more subdued. There's a full page fluff piece on each unit highlighted as well. It's interesting seeing things I'm familiar with tangentially going on a divergent path through history. They're fun books and valuable aids for painting!
