While old folks may wax poetic about the super hero books from their youth, they were not the things I coveted. Those were the even older monster books. I can recall flipping through my cousin's copies of the 70s reprints and absolutely adoring them. When the Masterworks line was in full gear I used to pick up a lot of the Atlas era scifi books when I could find them on the cheap. They were starting to crowd the shelves until this bad boy came out, negating my need for so many other hardcovers. This book is pure Kirby critters, nonstop. Hundreds of pages of 'em. They were always the highlights of those books as it was. Now, that's all that's in here. Sure, that may mean a few clunkers here and there, but that would've been the case regardless. You can't win them all, can you? What's crazy is there was enough material for an entire second book, and that was still before the super hero craze really took off.
