Boy am I happy to get this book! Every time I've had one of Ledroit's books, I feel like a little kid pouring over a Where's Waldo type book looking at all the little details embedded on every page. This book is no different, and collects the entire French version into one big massive tome- minus a few sketch pages and the like, sadly. While the story isn't anything groundbreaking, the authors do take it interesting places and the steampunk fairytale look isn't something we see all to often represented in comics, and certainly not at the level of detail and flair that Ledroit lavishes upon each page. If you like your stories to be a bit more grounded or realistic, be aware that the rule of cool is in full effect throughout the book with a few scattered instances of cheescake pandering as well. It's nowhere near as offensive as in books like Requiem (where I'd argue the offensiveness is part and parcel to some of the characters and factions involved in the story), it certainly isn't aimed at a younger audience either. I say give it a spin if you like the artist or the genre, and hopefully that will spur more publishers (or at least the likes of Titan and a few other players) to put more foreign works like this into the English- speaking market! Now if I could talk someone into making another proper go of some of the classic Hong Kong comics... Grab a copy here! https://amzn.to/3jNzg4U
