Daniel Warren Johnson's work is one of those things I'll pretty much pick up sight unseen. I dig his stuff. Always imaginative, intensely gritty, there's a wild and frantic energy that seems to always permeate what he draws. Long story short, Diana wakes up with a trashed world, no clue what's going on, and proceeds to fight all sorts of insanity while trying to figure out what's going on. Some interesting twists and turns develop as the story unfolds, but I'll let you discover those on your own. The overall feel of the book reminded me of Image's Glory relaunch. Obviously Glory was a shameless swipe at a Wonder Woman type character, but the updated version took the story in all sorts of directions and Dead Earth reminded me of that tonally. It also gives me nostalgic vibes of reading the old Elseworlds graphic novels and annuals of my childhood. Really digging the format of the book too. Reminds me of the individual French books I have, or Image's oversized edition of The Goddamned (another book I'll have to discuss at some point).
