After some debate about whether Joseph Smith's revelations should be officially published or not, the work began on the Book of Commandments. This included a Preface written by a revelation, something we now see as Section 1 of the Doctrine and Covenants. Many conferences and much work is done copying revelations into the Revelation Book and making corrections to the wording. This work culminates in the Revelation Book that we have been leaning on very heavily at Filling in the History.
