An Amateur Historian who found the time to read the Joseph Smith Papers fills in the gaps, tells the rest of the story, and hopefully gives some understanding to Latter-day Saint history and early American life.

Joseph escapes from jail with some assistance from his captors. The prisoners with him are all free and back with their families. The Church is put back in order, the winter is over, and petitions and proclamations are drafted and sent, by Joseph Smith, to the Senate, the House, and the President of the United States, Martin Van Buren. Joseph preaches along the way in an effort to gain support for the Church and redress the wrongs the members have suffered by the hand of Missourian mobs and the Governor.
