Joseph writes to his wife from the Ohio Hotel in south Manhattan. This hotel stationary has been passed down and is now held in the Church History Library. We get a glimpse into the world of New York City before the Civil War. We also get a letter to WW Phelps that later becomes Section 85 and explains consecration, inheritances in Zion, and how to deal with the faithful and the unfaithful.
