Letters are written while Joseph is on the run from extradition. These letters clarify the teachings of work for the dead, how they are to be done and the importance of record keeping and witnesses. These teachings hold to this day in all Temple work for the Church. This revelation cements the Temple as the central place for saving ordinances and the key that unlocks all Priesthood functions. We also get solid information on the sealing power, the power of Priesthood keys and the optimism of Joseph Smith.
