With Zion's Camp, the Mormon War in Missouri, and several other inflammatory events, Joseph and his brother Hyrum as well as a few other men are placed in State custody for several months through the coldest part of Winter. Many letters and messages are shared. They start their custody in a few different locations, but eventually land in Liberty Jail where they stay for a very long time. This is the one of the darkest moments in Church History, but many good things come from it that effect Church culture to this day.
