In this The Last Caretaker New Horizons update video, I visit Sanctuary Dock 12 after viewers told me to go there, and I finally unlock one of the most useful new upgrades in the patch: the rear boat extension. This new blueprint lets us add a landing pad / large rear deck to the back of the ship, turning the boat into even more of a mobile base. The first part of the video is about exploring Sanctuary Dock 12, searching for the boat extension blueprint, dealing with enemies, FPS drops, hidden rooms, old loot, and trying to find the correct scan location. After way too much searching in the wrong places, I finally find the blueprint and unlock the rear-mounted gyro extension. Once the extension is built, I test what can be placed on it and immediately realize this is going to be useful for far more than just a helicopter. The new deck can support extra building ideas, turbines, utility setups, storage, and probably a lot of unnecessary experiments that will make the boat even more chaotic. After that, I head toward Eternal Flame and Dead Breath to start the Recovery Grinder blueprint quest. These locations are some of my least favorite places in the game, and this video shows exactly why. I go in with the helicopter, forget important materials, run out of fuel, get trapped, lose time, fight with fall damage, repair issues, missing rubber, broken plans, and repeatedly make the same mistake until it becomes a life lesson. The main lesson of the video: bring your ship, bring rubber, bring fuel, save often, and never trust yourself when flying into dangerous vertical locations. I do eventually scan the blade assembly for the Recovery Grinder, but the process becomes one of the most painful and ridiculous failures I have had in The Last Caretaker so far.
