In this The Last Caretaker New Horizons update video, I test another new system from the patch: sending samples to space. After the pear experiment turned into a disappointment, this time I send hologram samples, painting samples, and mixed samples to see what kind of rewards we actually get from them. The first test is with normal hologram samples. I send five of them with a human pod and check the reward pod afterward. The result is not good. Most of the items seem to come from the human being sent to space, not from the samples themselves, which makes the hologram samples feel almost useless right now. The second test is with painting samples. This time, the reward gives a large amount of Elysium birch seeds, which connects back to the pear test from the previous video. Pears gave birch seeds too, and now paintings seem to do the same. After that, I send a larger mixed batch of holograms and paintings to see whether the result changes, but the rewards still feel incomplete or unfinished. This leads to the bigger question: are samples actually useful right now, or is the reward system not fully implemented yet? If the system is unfinished, then maybe future patches will add proper rewards for paintings, holograms, fruits, and other collectibles. But if this is intentional, then the game may be pushing us toward a much larger Eden platform grind. I also talk about my theory for the future of the Eden platform. Since we keep getting Elysium birch seeds and the Eden frame is labeled as a small platform, I think bigger Eden structures may be coming later. These platforms may be used to produce oxygen, rebuild the ozone layer, or prepare Earth for the return of the humans we are sending to space. For now, my advice is simple: start saving iron. If Eden platforms become a major part of the next patch, we are going to need a huge amount of materials, especially iron and stainless steel. Scrap old locations, collect everything, kill sharks for resources, and prepare before the next update turns the Eden platform into a full-time job.
