Currently Playing: Into The North Bastion ( Part 1 ) : The Last Caretaker North Bastion New Update

In this The Last Caretaker frozen-region video, I finally prepare properly for the trip toward North Bastion and try to turn the icy wasteland into something remotely survivable. The first experiment is simple: can I use the forklift to carry one of the large heaters and basically create a mobile warm zone? Unfortunately, no. The forklift struggles with it, the heater clips into the ground, and that plan dies almost immediately. I also test the heater range again, and the results are not great. The large heater looks like it should warm a huge area, but its actual effective range is surprisingly small. Even compared to the smaller heaters, the difference is not nearly as large as I expected. Open areas make the problem even worse, so building a heated path across the frozen region is far less practical than it first seemed. Because of that, I load up equipment, resources, batteries, heaters, water systems, boilers, cables, and enough emergency supplies to survive the trip toward North Bastion. The problem is that apparently I prepared for everything except plastic. Once we reach the mountain settlement, the real struggle begins. I start setting up a temporary base with power generation, water purification, boilers, steam systems, batteries, and heaters. The goal is to create enough infrastructure that I can survive inside the mountain without constantly burning through emergency healing items. This turns into a battle against cold, missing materials, power shortages, cable chaos, and questionable heater efficiency. I also test whether the bigger heaters are actually useful inside larger enclosed spaces. Unfortunately, even there, their range feels much smaller than expected. Eventually, we push deeper into North Bastion and receive the next objective: find the laboratory hidden somewhere inside the settlement. One interesting detail is that part of the structure looks more like an aircraft entrance than a normal door, which may become important later. There is clearly much more hidden inside this mountain than what we can see from the entrance. This episode is mainly preparation, survival infrastructure, experimentation, and the beginning of the North Bastion exploration. The next time we return, the goal is to push much deeper into the settlement and finally find the laboratory.
