Currently Playing: How To Make Glowing Cables & Decorations In The Last Caretaker

In this short The Last Caretaker guide, I explain how I make the glowing cable effect on my ship and also talk about a few important things to know before decorating your ship with loose objects. The glowing setup is simple. Start with two batteries. Connect one battery into the other, then take the output and run the cable through a conjunction around the area you want to decorate. After looping the cable around, connect it back into the other battery as an input. The power continuously travels through the circuit, which creates the glowing cable effect around your ship. If you want the setup to look cleaner, you can also use sockets instead of leaving the cables exposed. Put sockets where you want the cable to enter and exit, then route the line through them. This gives you the same basic result without having loose, wiggling cables everywhere. Then we get to ship decoration. Inside normal POIs, decorations are usually much easier because the environment itself does not move. Your ship is different. Since the ship rocks, travels, reloads, and constantly has physics calculations happening, loose decorations can behave very strangely. Putting individual objects directly on the floor can work reasonably well, but placing objects inside other objects is much less reliable. After reloading the game, decorations may move, wiggle, fall out, or completely change position. Teddy bears may migrate. Items that were neatly arranged inside a container can suddenly be scattered around the ship. So if you are planning a highly decorated ship, keep the physics in mind. The Last Caretaker is still not exactly an interior-design simulator, and anything involving loose objects may eventually become part of the ocean. This is everything I currently know about glowing cables and ship decoration. If you have better decoration tricks, cleaner cable methods, or ways of stopping objects from moving around, leave them in the comments so other caretakers can use them too. And keep an eye out for the upcoming community ship contest and deck review videos.
