Currently Playing: Your Ship MUST Be Like This Or You Will Lose Time In The Last Caretaker

In this The Last Caretaker 2026 ship build update, I show my new ship setup after the New Horizons patch changed how refueling, power generation, fruit farming, recovery grinding, and long-distance survival work. This build is designed around staying away from the refinery for longer, using the Veil, Recovery Grinder, pear trees, wind turbines, batteries, and carbon fiber recycling to turn the ship into a moving factory. The biggest change is the new ship garden. Since pears are now important for sending cargo to space and getting rewards, I removed my old helipad area and replaced it with pear trees. This gives me a steady source of pears while traveling, instead of waiting at the Eden platform. I also added a lot more water production so the ship can support farming, refuel Eden later, and help with rocket station needs. Power is now based mostly on wind turbines and batteries. Storms can generate a huge amount of energy, and the ship now stores a lot more power than before. I also added stabilizers because the waves are getting painful, and the ship is becoming heavier and more complicated with every update. The most important part of the build is the recycling loop. The ship produces carbon dioxide while moving. That carbon dioxide goes into the carbon fiber machine, carbon fiber drops into the Recovery Grinder, the grinder turns it into plastic and oil, and then plastic can be recycled again into more oil. That oil goes into storage and can be used with the distillation system. This creates a fuel loop that makes the ship much more self-sufficient. I also explain why diesel is now better than raw oil after the distillation tower nerf. Even if you used oil before, diesel is now the better option for longer travel. The Veil can still bring oil from the seabed, and when combined with the Recovery Grinder, distillation tower, carbon fiber loop, and extra storage tanks, the ship can stay active for much longer without constant refinery visits. This ship build is still messy, but it is becoming a true mobile base: pear farm, wind power plant, battery bank, fuel factory, recycling system, methane production, oxygen storage, diesel storage, oil buffers, helipad, and glowing landing pad design. Nothing goes to waste on this ship anymore.
