Smoking a Wakaba Filtered Cigar (Review) from Japan, which are a full flavored product that have been discontinued since mid-2024. Wakaba is a brand of cigarettes that was first introduced in 1966 by Japan Tobacco, and along with Echo and Golden Bat, used to use a lower tobacco tax bracket than other items, garnering them a cheaper price, and making them into a budget nameplate. However, this tax bracket no longer exists, and so, in 2019, the original variety was discontinued and rebranded into filtered cigars to maintain a lower price. It appears that this choice did not pan out, and from what I can gather, sales dropped significantly, and so after 5 years, in 2024, this version of Wakaba was discontinued, and a normal cigarette version was reintroduced.
