Smoking a Cigarette That "Helps You Quit," and Reviewing it as well. Specifically, it was the VLN, Full Flavor Golds, which, believe it or not, are currently marketed as a "quit smoking aid." VLN, which stands for "Very Low Nicotine," is a cigarette brand that was first introduced into the American Market in 2022 by the 22nd Century Group, a tobacco product manufacturer and biotechnology company that was first founded in 1998. Supposedly, the goal with this brand is to help people quit smoking, and to accomplish this goal, these contain patented and proprietary genetically modified tobacco which contains 95% less nicotine than the usual, with only 0.5mg per gram, allowing for significantly reduced intake, while acting like normal. Due to the the aforementioned items, these are being marketed as an aid to help quit, similarly to gum or pouches, and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has 100% endorsed this, and has actually declared these to be a “Modified Risk Tobacco Product,” or MRTP for short, which essentially just means that they believe that this “product will or is expected to benefit the health of the population as a whole.” Ironically enough though, these are produced by the same company that once produced the now discontinued “Red Sun Bolds,” which were one of the strongest smokes in America, so it’s funny to see the company go in the exact opposite direction. Except that they were already there to begin with, as these have actually existed for years under a different nameplate, even prior to FDA approval, which means that the manufacturer is simply selling an already existing product to a new audience. For over a decade now, 22nd Century has made Low-Nicotine Research cigarettes called Spectrum, and by the company's own admittal, VLN and Spectrum are identical, and them in Europe under the “Magic” nameplate as well.
