Always check the hotel’s direct price before booking online! I found a hotel listed on hotels.com for around Rs. 24,000 / $80 through a third-party seller. But when I contacted the hotel directly, the exact same stay was only Rs. 9,000 / $30. That’s a Rs. 15,000 difference! Online hotel booking sites can be convenient, but always check who is actually selling the room and compare the price with the hotel’s official website or by contacting the hotel directly. Before booking a hotel: • Check the hotel’s direct price • Compare multiple booking sites • Look at who is actually selling the room • Double-check the room type, dates, taxes and cancellation policy • Be suspicious of prices that seem unusually high A few minutes of checking could save you a LOT of money.
