One thing many travellers don't think about when drinking chai on the road is the cup it comes in. Boiling hot chai poured into cups that haven't been cleaned properly can increase the risk of picking up an unwanted stomach bug. A simple way to reduce the risk is to carry your own thermos cup and ask the chaiwala to pour it directly into that. Some shops also offer disposable cups, which can be another good option when available. Would you still try a roadside chai in Pakistan?
