Curated by: Not A Pound For Air To Ground (219 videos)
On the morning of the 25th of July 1950, North Korean forces invaded the south and began to roll down the peninsula. They were supported by a small number of old Soviet aircraft, which would be the first element of the communist invasion to be defeated when the US intervened. For this reason, little attention is paid to the NKAF and there is little material on it in the west. This video looks at the history of North Korea's air force before the Korean War and its order of battle when the fighting began. Sources: The best (and only) book on the NKPAF in Korea is "Fury From The North", by Doug Dildy. A slim book, but well researched and written. Essential reading if you're interested in the Communist side of the air war This excellent blog post summarises the presence and use of Japanese weapons in Korea: https://wwiiafterwwii.wordpress.com/2015/06/19/wwii-japanese-weapons-in-the-korean-war/
