Every so often, a piece of furniture finds its way to me with a story attached—and this one is no exception. This dresser was an estate sale leftover, sitting quietly through the entire sale without a single taker. Afterward, the owner reached out to me directly and asked if I would be interested in it. As soon as she told me it was handcrafted by her late husband, I immediately said yes and picked it up right away. At first glance, it appeared to have a traditional stained wood finish. But once I began working on it, I discovered the truth—it wasn’t stained at all, but instead painted with a faux finish designed to look like woodgrain. While unique, the finish left behind uneven ridges and a dated look. I knew right then that this dresser was ready for a fresh start. The piece itself has the sweetest French provincial curves, so I leaned into its charming design. I started by smoothing down the ridges left from the faux finish, priming the entire dresser, and painting it in the most delicate blush pink. After sealing it with multiple coats of protective topcoat for lasting durability, I lined every drawer with a soft floral liner for an extra touch of charm. To finish it all off, I added oversized gold bow pulls that are playful yet elegant—the perfect jewelry for this darling dresser. What began as an overlooked estate sale leftover is now transformed into a piece fit for a princess, whether young or simply young at heart. Thank you for watching and following along.
