This dresser has been through a lot. After being refinished by someone else, a client had it dropped off here so I could refinish it to match another dresser she was buying from me. I was quite surprised at the condition of it when it arrived. From the photo I thought it had been stained, but it was just primed and stain was applied as a faux finish, I’m guessing. Deep gouges in the wood top, swirl marks EVERYWHERE from the sander and deep, deep brush marks from a thick and heavy topcoat/varnish. I have my work cut out for me! Let the sanding begin!! Previously painted pieces are usually a hard pass in my book, but I thought this had been refinished and would be a quick repaint.. NOPE! Most of the time on this project was spent sanding. Sanding, scraping, more sanding, more scraping and then throw in some handing sanding and you’re almost there! When that was done, I did a tan wash, then stain on top to match the other dresser. Then the body of the dresser was painted a beautiful creamy white, Swiss Coffee. The client purchased vintage Hepplewhite hardware, which was installed along with beautiful floral drawer liners. Now this beauty is a showstopper!
