I recently sold a beautiful Bassett 6 drawer dresser. As soon as the buyer got it home, she knew she also needed her other dresser painted in the same scheme! They delivered it to me and I got straight to work. Only a few minor veneer (paper) repairs were needed and some trim needed to be reaffixed, but it was smooth sailing from there. I filled the old hardware holes to allow for the new long, modern pulls. Because this is particle board with paper veneer, I did decide to do a little different prep with primer and Shellac sprayed on to seal it prior to painting so as to not over saturate the veneer with water based primer. I then drilled new holes for the long hardware. This was painted in a custom almost black dark gray and once I had it mixed to match, I got to work painting. 3 very light coats of paint provided full coverage, then the tinted top coat to finish it off. The buyer was thrilled and now has a full coordinating set of dressers!
