Currently Playing: Muslim Tried To Use Pagan Myths Against Jesus But Sam Shamoun EXPOSED The Lie

In this video Sam Shamoun goes back and forth with a caller about the claim that Jesus is just a copy of pagan mythology, and the guy admits upfront he's not a scholar and is basing his points off documentaries and academics he's watched. He brings up Josephus and supposed parallels to Jesus, and Sam corrects him that Josephus isn't drawing pagan parallels at all, he's simply a Jewish historian writing decades after Jesus who mentions him, James, and John the Baptist as historical figures. From there it moves into Mithras and the broader dying and rising god claims, with Sam pointing out there's no pre Christian source that has Mithras born of a virgin on December 25th or dying and rising again, and he pulls up Inspiring Philosophy's playlist and a written refutation on Tektonics on the spot to back it up. The conversation then shifts to the virgin birth specifically, where Sam plays a clip of Bart Ehrman, who isn't even a Christian, explaining that the Greek and Roman stories involve gods having actual sex with women who were never virgins to begin with, which completely undercuts the parallel people try to draw to Mary. It ends with the caller conceding he needs to look into the sources himself and pivoting the conversation toward the Trinity.
