In this video Sam Shamoun takes on the common claim that the Antichrist has to be Jewish, going through 2 Thessalonians 2 and what the Bible does and doesn’t say about the man of sin. He says the passage shows the man of sin entering the temple, taking God’s seat and claiming to be God, and he links that to Daniel 8 and 10 to 12, where Antiochus Epiphanes is a shadow of the Antichrist. Antiochus defiled the temple and claimed to be a god but wasn’t a Jew, so Sam asks where the idea that the Antichrist must be Jewish comes from. He says he can’t find an explicit statement of it in the New Testament, and he has AI search for one live and reports that it finds nothing. He then shows that Paul warns the Thessalonians about letters forged in his name, notes that critical scholars like Bart Ehrman and Dan McClellan call 2 Thessalonians itself a forgery, and uses that to argue Protestants have a problem knowing which letters to trust. He closes on the great falling away that comes before the man of sin, and on “son of destruction” being used of both the man of sin and Judas.
