Currently Playing: Sam Shamoun TRAPS A Muslim In A CONTRADICTION About the Quran

Sam Shamoun presses a Sunni Muslim caller who says he was running from debating him on the claim that the Quran is Allah's eternal, uncreated speech, walking him through his own inconsistencies step by step. The caller initially insists the Arabic Quran is simply an "instance" or "manifestation" of Allah's speech, which Sam shows is functionally identical to the concept of emanation found in Islamic theological sources he pulls up live from Islam Q&A, confirming that all four Sunni schools agree the Quran is uncreated while the recited and written words themselves are created. Sam then presses the caller to admit that if Allah "spoke" the Quran, that speech must have had a beginning, getting him to concede that Allah does possess potentiality and that his speech began at a point in time. The conversation turns to Surah 43:4 and the "mother of the book," the eternal preserved tablet the Quran claims to originate from, and Sam catches the caller in a direct contradiction: he concedes the tablet itself is created, yet also affirms the Quran is contained in and comes from that very tablet, meaning an uncreated, eternal speech would have to originate from a created source, a logical impossibility the caller struggles to untangle throughout the exchange.
