Currently Playing: Sam Shamoun Breaks Why The Christian Crusades Were Justified

Sam Shamoun walks a Chaldean Catholic caller through the classic "Crusades and Inquisition" objection often thrown at Christians by Protestants and atheists, showing that the argument only works if you assume all killing is automatically wrong. He gets the caller to admit that killing ISIS members was justified, exposing the contradiction in claiming killing is inherently evil while also approving of certain killings, and uses Genesis 9:3-6 to show that scripture itself distinguishes between unjust murder and justified killing. Sam breaks down the Crusades as a response to Muslim persecution of Christians in the Holy Land, acknowledging some Crusades were justified while others went too far when driven by greed and plunder rather than genuine defense of the faith. He draws a parallel to King David, who despite being chosen by God and leading God's armies, was still told he'd shed too much blood and wouldn't be allowed to build the temple, showing that not every act of war under a righteous cause is automatically good. Sam then addresses the Inquisition directly, distinguishing between the Old Testament principle of removing false gods that corrupt a land from the danger of killing fellow Trinity-believing Christians simply for belonging to a different church, and argues that modern Europe's moral collapse proves the wisdom behind guarding a nation from corrupting influences.
