Currently Playing: Ex Muslim Asks Why Blasphemy Of The Holy Spirit Is Unforgivable

In this video Sam Shamoun walks a caller through why blasphemy against the Holy Spirit is unforgivable while blasphemy against the Son of Man can be forgiven. He breaks down that the only being you could commit an unforgivable sin against would have to be God, which shows the Holy Spirit's divine nature, while also being distinct from Jesus. He explains that Son of Man simply means someone who's human, tracing it back to Ezekiel and the Aramaic and Hebrew usage of the term, and shows how a Jew seeing an ordinary looking man claim equality with God would naturally react with outrage, which is why Jesus tolerates and forgives that kind of blasphemy against himself. But when someone witnesses the Holy Spirit's undeniable miraculous work, like Jesus casting out demons, and still attributes that to Satan, there's no excuse left, and that rejection cuts a person off from the very thing that convicts them of sin and connects them to Christ. Sam ties it back to 1 Corinthians 12, showing that no one can even confess Jesus is Lord apart from the Holy Spirit, meaning to blaspheme him is to sever your only hope of ever coming to Christ.
